Devising Your Personal Lens & Process

Youmay come to notice as you engage in this course that you have a very particular and refined lens through which you choose to see the world and want to shape your future experiences. Identifying this will guide you to shape experiences with intentionality, carving away some habits and building up chosen priorities. Our common purpose here is to humanize our approach to shared experiences.

You may wish to support your process with a special notebook in which you take notes of your own process. Take a little time to title your notebook and even design its cover as a welcoming space for you to write or draw freely as you move through this course. Decide where this notebook will live so it stays available to you throughout your process. Promise yourself the freedom of expression in this book so it becomes a working space for the exercises presented in the course and also for the idiosyncratic ideas that pop up in you along the pathway of the course. A book is remarkably like a door on a hinge, so open your book and write or draw a “hello to me” welcome page. Include a month/year date so that you have that as an anchoring reference. Let this space, from page to page, become itself over time.

You are entering a creative process. There is no right or wrong. One suggestion is to only write on the right side of your open notebook and to leave the left side open as “growing space.” This will allow you to visit past pages with room for new ideas and responses.
