Humanist Parenting

This course introduces many of the developing best practices for raising children without religion. Areas explored include moral development, worldview literacy, influencing without indoctrinating, dealing effectively with religious extended family, understanding mortality, and helping children develop personal identity and community without the benefits or detriments of a religious framework.

When possible, this course draws on existing research and expert opinion in child development. When such data are not yet available, the course draws on the growing consensus among secular parents in recent years.
