To be effective in your lobbying, here are some practical suggestions to follow:
Know your legislators
Know the legislation
Know the basic legislative process
Know how to be firm but friendly
Attack the issue, not the person
Don’t underestimate public officials
Son’t look down on government and politics
Be understanding
Be thoughtful
Don’t blame public official for “failing” to do what you wanted
Avoid selfish requests for special favors and exemptions
Don’t be a busybody
Be cooperative
Be realistic
