Tackling Misinformation During a Global Pandemic

Learn about how Dr. Sankar and her organization, Science Up First (a national social media anti-misinformation campaign), has been tackling misinformation around the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Krishana Sankar is a trained Scientist, having graduated with her PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. She is currently the Science Advisor and Community Partnerships Lead at Science Up First, a national social media initiative bringing together experts to dispel misinformation online. Dr. Sankar is also a science communicator and has been sharing information on her research in diabetes and healthcare for several years, using social media. Since 2020, she has been dispelling myths around COVID-19 and the Vaccines and has been a vaccine science educator with different organizations such as COVID-19 Resources Canada. She has also done many educational talks for organizations in Canada, the US and Guyana; and has been featured in the media nationally and internationally.
