Christian nationalism has moved from the fringes of American political life to the center of power, and it now poses a real threat to the American republic. Its leaders have insinuated themselves into the highest levels of government. Working through policy organizations, they use the tools of modern political campaigns, like data and strategic messaging, to encourage followers to engage in political activism with the goal that Christian nationalists and their political allies should dominate all aspects of government and society. In her discussion, Stewart will pull back the curtain on the inner workings and leading personalities of a movement which has turned religion into a tool for political power.

Katherine Stewart is the author of The Power Worshippers: Inside the Dangerous Rise of Religious Nationalism (Bloomsbury).
